Muscle ultrasound better than MRI in detecting early changes in COL6-related dystrophies

New findings presented at the WMS 2021 virtual congress highlighted the feasibility of using muscle ultrasound (US) as a non-invasive biomarker of disease progression in COL6-related muscular dystrophy (COL6-RD).

According to Dr Safoora Syeda from the Neuromuscular and Neurogenetic Disorders of Childhood Section, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA, muscle US is more sensitive in detecting early changes in younger patients with congenital muscular dystrophy compared to muscle MRI.
