Developing more personalized medicine in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) can lead to the development of a modelling strategy that detects and validates an Individual treatment response (ITR) score and opens avenues for building treatment response calculators that are also applicable in routine clinical practice.
Why this matters
Attempts have been made recently to apply personalized medicine to patients with MS but were unable to disentangle the prognostic role of baseline covariates from their role as treatment effect modifiers and this proof-of-concept analysis may lead to the creation of a treatment algorithm that provide improved support in treatment decisions for MS patients by neurologists.
